RTÉ Radio 1 88.2-90.0 FM - Irelands primary source of information, which began its broadcast nearly a century ago in 1926. Originally launched as "2RN", it marked the inception of the first radio service of the Irish Free State. Over its storied history, the station underwent several name changes and eventually settled on its current name in 1979, an abbreviation of its owner Raidió Teilifís Éireann, Ireland s National Public Service Broadcaster. RTÉ Radio 1 boasts the largest listenership in Ireland, not only keeping its audience up-to-date with the latest news from Ireland and around the world but also offering an enjoyable selection of music.
